Computer constantly at 100%

Expand Post »
Hi all, my computer is constantly at 100% even when I'm just opening Firefox. At the moment I believe my computer is clean of viruses/nasties (that I know of). My computer is a Compaq Presario SR1130NX using Windows XP. When my computer is at 100%, it makes this weird whirring noise.

I looked in the task manager processes section to see what's up and I see like...twelve svchost.exe processes....I'm not sure if that's normal or not. I think this might be the problem with my computer constantly at 100%. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.
