Hard Drive Cloning???

Expand Post »
Morning Guys and Gals,

I am not too hot in this area so would like some advice. I have a machine with loads of stuff on it and need to get it all onto another machine. Ideally i want to just make an image of the current drive and then copy it onto the new machine. Whats the best software to use (open source or free if possible!)

On a mac you can simply firewire them together and use target disk mode to copy everything over onto the new mac, is there a way to do this for Windows XP?

As always any help would be great.

Thanks,

Re: Hard Drive Cloning???

Symantec's Ghost is one option that's available. You won't be able to copy the entire image over to the new machine though due to the fact the hardware configurations are different. You can use the Ghost explorer to drag and drop folders from the image onto the new computers hard drive.
