Windows Installer problem

Expand Post »
I have Windows 2000 SP4 running on P4 1.8GHZ and 1G RAM.

I get this message when I try to install programs like MacFee, Microsoft Office, and other programs:

The windows installer service could not be acceseed. This can occur if you are running windows in saft mode, or if the windows installers is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

Here is what I have done:

1. Tried to restart the windows installer service and I get Error 5: Access is denied. I always login as administrator.
2. Download windows installer 2.0 and try to reintall it and I get this message: The specific service already exsist.

Any ideas to what is wrong with my windows installer?
Thank you very much for your help.

Re: Windows Installer problem

Hello,

This is a good one.

Might want to download the Windows Installer again, and make sure you get the complete package, not the little morsel that connects to the internet to get the rest of the parts.

Then restart in Safe Mode. Try installing it again.

Let us know.

Hello ,nice to offer help but posting to a 3 year old problem is almost useless.
