Windows cant boot

My computer specs: ASUS A7N8X E-DELUXE
1 GIG CRUCIAL PC 3200
AMD ATHLON XP 3200 +
SEAGATE 160 GB 7200

The Problem: I just recently reformatted and i cant get into windows because of this error: WINDOWS COULD NOT START BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING FILE IS MISSING OR CORRUPT: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

I keep reformatting thinking it will just go away but no way!!! Also if i do get lucky and i reformat and get into windows then next time i restart the problem shows up. The hard drive is new. Cant even think bout calling windows tech support they cost 32.00!!!!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

it tells you how to restore your registry hive keys.

If you actually erased your hard drive and reinstalled Windows, but you're still getting this error, you've probably got a bad hard drive.
