Computer Boot Problems

I have a computer that has no os on it. I install windows xp to the part where it says "Your computer will restart in 15 seconds." The computer reboots and i get the error message "Your computer could not boot due to a boot configuration problem" Ive tried evrything on Microsofts website

Full Specs:
AMD Athlon XP+ 2200mhz
2 gb memory
sony 52x dvd-ram drive
Some ole alienware model, (You know, the one that's purple and has the latch that opens to the cd drive)

did u format the disk, did u make the partition the primary and active partition that you install windows on. if u answer no to any of the above get it done reinstall windows. if u answer yes do a repair and use the fxboot option.
