Re: Active Directory Users and Computers

For internet connection ,u donot need to create new users in domain environment. U create new users in ADUC inorder to have a domain user account which users can use to log into Domain Controller by using
their computers.

For internet connection ,simply plug an ethernet cable in the RJ 45 port of the NIC Card in ur laptop and make sure that the other end of the ethernet cable is properly plugged into a DSL Modem(Provided by ur ISP).

I hope this helps,

Re: Active Directory Users and Computers

Firoz,

I am geting ur problem now, tell me 1 thing what happens when
u click on the radio button "Obtain IP address automatically"?
Do u get any error messege when u click on this radio button?

Make sure that u also click on the radio button "obtain DNS Server address automatically".

Please note once again that ur internet connection has nothing to do with ur domain.

Also tell me that what error messege do u get when u try to enter the domain name into the domain name field ?

Are u sure that in ur computer ,the TCP/IP configuration was set to dynamic?

Answer my questions 1 by 1 and hopefully ur problem will be resolved.

I did it .

Also tell me that what error messege do u get when u try to enter the domain name into the domain name field ?
if i just right click on my computer->Properties-when i try to click
Computer Name tab.and when i click to change button.and select
radio button Domain instead of workgroup.
(a) A Domain Controller for the Domain asfsteel.com could not be contacted.
(b)Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly.
©if the name is correct, details for the troubleshooting information.

Are u sure that in ur computer ,the TCP/IP configuration was set to dynamic?
Can you tell me Sir .How should I make Tcp/ip configuration was set to dynamic ?
Kindly let me know the idea.Any help would be highly appreciated.

Re: Active Directory Users and Computers

Follow these steps:

1) R.C on LAN connection icon in the taskbar----->Status----->Support Tab on the top(Do u see IP address,Default Gateway and Subnet Mask details)? Does it say after "Address Type" :Assigned by DHCP?

You should do this before joining your laptop to domain

Also tell me is ur computer already joined to domain?
