protect folder not found...

I am searching for the master key, that is used for encrypting
the private key files.. The master key is present in the folder:

RootDirectory \Documents and Settings\< username >\Application Data\Microsoft\Protect

But the "protect" folder is not present on my machine... plzzz guide me
why is this so... as all the private key files are encrypted, so the master key
must be present...

Do you have a backup of your machine?

Wich OS, version and patch level are you using?

In the control panel folder options, did you checked all the show options and unchecked the hide ones?

Did you searched for Protect in all the machine?
