windows explorer -explorer bar sticky on desktop

Expand Post »
Hi all,

Sometime ago I started up my computer as normal and one of the windows explorer bars was attached to the left side of my desktop and I can't seem to make it go away. The explorer bar actually works like it would in explorer, except that clicking on a link will open the link in a new window instead of on the desktop.

I can't find anything about this on microsoft.com or any other help forum and I don't feel comfortable changing the registry without guidance.

Can someone help me to get rid of this exlorer bar, please? I can live with it - and have been - but I would like top get rid of it if possible.

I am running XP with SP2 installed, and I don't think that I had made any configuration changes before the explorer bar appeared, though I honestly can't remember.

I would also love to know why this happened.

Many thanks for any help.

Re: windows explorer -explorer bar sticky on desktop

Thank you very much. That little registry edit did the trick.

It's nice seeing the whole desktop again :cheesy:
