Office 2000 install fail

I am currently running Windows Me with Office 97 and have been trying to upgrade to Office 2000.Whenever I try to start the setup, it looks normal with the Welcome screen but then after a few seconds an error screen titled "Microsoft Office 2000 Installation: Fatal Error" pops up with "Installation ended prematurely because of an error." Assistance, por favor??

R u trying to upgrade over Office 97. Plz Uninstall 97 b4 installing 2000
