Disable System Beep In Windows Vista

Expand Post »
One of the small but annoying things in Windows Vista is the fact that the System Beep is enabled by default. Every time you encounter an error or you click through the menus of applications such as the AVG antivirus, you will hear a beep. In the beginning you might ignore it but after a while it becomes very annoying. For those of you who want to get rid of the beep, in this tutorial we will show how to disable it.

Re: Disable System Beep In Windows Vista

There has to be a law somewhere against that loud system beep on Windows Vista, because it’s so loud it has to be illegal! But don’t worry, I’ll show you how to disable the system beep once and for all.

Head down to your device manager, and click Show hidden devices in the View menu. Browse to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers and on the top of that list there will be a device called Beep. Dive down in its properties and you’ll see something like this: check attechment

If you see those orange ellipses I think it’s safe to say you don’t need any further explanation, no?

This doesn’t work in VMwares of VirtualPCs though, if you have installed a virtual soundcard in them, repeat the above procedure ‘in’ those virtual machines.

hope this will work

Re: Disable System Beep In Windows Vista

Personally the "beep" is quite handy. If finding too loud though, in Vista and Win7, can open up the Mixer and simply turn System Sounds down to a more reasonable level.
