I have a small pond in the yard and I set up a web camera from my notebook to see whether it's a dog or a cat that bothered my fishes every single night, so I can find a way to stop it. I camcorder or any high quality camera, so the result is not good. I can see from the video that there were some movements, but I have no clue what it was.

I am looking for a free software that I can use to make the video brighter or sharper. I don't want anything to complicated as I am not planning to edit anything. I only want to be able to see what's on it. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I tried to use some tools in virtualdub and there's a " brighness/contrast " function in there, but it doesn't seem to be working on my video

I found this information about avisynth Click Here, but really have no idea how it should work.
