Trouble starting up

Expand Post »
Hey everyone. Recently my laptop has developed a problem starting up. When I turn it on it will simply power on and nothing else, it will just sit there with the power on and and do nothing. Only after I power it on and off a few times will it actually start up into Windows. I have tried virus scans, spy-ware scans, and scanning the registry for issues, but that has not worked thus far. Whether its a software or hardware problem I do not know. By the way I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavilion dv2000. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Trouble starting up

Thanks for the welcome, and the help. Unfortunately it turns out I have the proper BIOS version already. I just sent an e-mail to HP to see if the can help me out.

Re: Trouble starting up

If you can log into Windows Vista once, connect to the internet and download the BIOS update from here:

This is for the model you specified:

Note: While updating, make sure it's on AC Power!
