Re: uggghhhhh!!!!!!

What happens when you insert a CD?
Does it show up in explorer?
Have you tried differnet CDs?

You could also see if the problem is the same in safe mode.

Re: uggghhhhh!!!!!!

More info please! Have you been able to use cd on the drive in the past?

Is the device listed as a dvd cd-rom device in your device manager?

Re: uggghhhhh!!!!!!

Enter safe mode, just reboot PC and when it restarts just press F8 until choices are given:
1. Safe mode
2. safe mode with networking
3.........

Re: uggghhhhh!!!!!!

Hi,

If trying safe mode results in the same then you could try a bootable CD. This should determine if it is a Operating System issue or Hardware issue.

If we can't solve your problem you may have to buy a new drive. hopefully that won't happen.
