What happens when you insert a CD?
Does it show up in explorer?
Have you tried differnet CDs?

You could also see if the problem is the same in safe mode.

Hello,

It looks as if some drivers are missing or corrupt for the drive.

Can you go into device manager and see if the drive is listed and if there are any exclamation marks next to it.

I suggest giving this a read.

i went into the device manager and the drive is listed there
no exclamation points either...
i went into the regedit last pm and tried to delete the upper and lower filters and there were no filters at all
the drives were listed there also..had a hard time finding the drives but i did after 3 hours lol...
