Local Only Problem

Expand Post »
Hi,

I have a problem connecting to the internet with my laptop. It has Microsoft Windows Vista home premium installed on it, and is a Compaq Preario F700.

When I plug in the Ethernet cable, the computer recognizes a connection, but it dosen't allow me to access the internet. It says It's a local only connection.

However, when I plug the same cable into my desktop (Windows XP, Dell) it works perfectly fine.

Any help here?

Re: Local Only Problem

Is this a modem or a router?
Has the internet ever worked on this laptop before?
