RE: Playstation Graphics Upgrade

Expand Post »
Hi Fellow Daniweb Members,

It may sound abit insane, but is it possible to upgrade a Playstation 2 graphics card to maybe a 512MB Nvedia 9800 GTX HD?

But even if you can, how can you disable the integrated graphics card? does the playstation have a BIOS like computers? and does the graphics need power supplied to it?

It would be grateful if you could tell me if this is possible?

Regards,

~ShahBoii

Re: Playstation Graphics Upgrade

It is theoretically possible, but you would need to know a lot about electronics and you would need to know how to re-write the PS2's operating system in order for it to work. You would also need all the games written differently to incorporate the new hardware.

Re: Playstation Graphics Upgrade

Thanks for the reply but would you have to re-write the operating system from the BIOS? I mean, How will I access it?

Re: Playstation Graphics Upgrade

I am no PS2 expert, I am an old Xbox man, but I would assume you would need use of an EPROM programmer for something like that.
I think the PS2's software may well be stored on a PROM.
