Windows 7 audio decoder errors with HDMI

So I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit PC that I use as a Media Center. It has an ATI video card with HDMI out that I use for both video and audio output. An HDMI cable runs from the PC to a Pioneer Elite A/V receiver and then out to my speakers and a Mitsubishi 1080p projector. The resolution is 1920x1080 and it looks great. The problem is that sometimes the audio decides to stop working and I get audio decoder errors in media center mode. When I exit media center and look in my Windows audio devices the "HDMI audio" seems to be disconnected or unrecognized. I have to unplug the HDMI cable and then plug it back in then the sound works again. I have a feeling this is a software issue. All of the drivers are up to date and SP1 is installed.

Anyone have any ideas for me? If there a new fix I can try?
