Install Paths for Users on Vista

Expand Post »
I'm running a vista certification practice test for a product at our company, and I was wondering what the installation paths should be for All users (I presume program files, since an admin is required to install as all users anyways) and current user (as underprivliged users have no access to the program files folder in vista, thus it cannot be that). Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Re: Install Paths for Users on Vista

Non administrators do have access to the program files directory. I believe they only have read permission but any application already present and ran from the directory has write permission.

An administrative account is needed to install software and thats how it should be. Placing the application somewhere else would defeat the purpose of different account levels.

You are correct, c:\program files is where you want it to go.
