moving Vista to new mobo and cpu

I have Vista premium installed on old mobo and a Pentium 4 3.0; I have aquired a new Asus mobo and Pentium D 2.8; Can I just move HDD with Vista installed, old graphics adapter, memory and modem to the new mobo without problems? will Microsoft object? will I have to reinstall Vista?

I dont think there will be an issue as long as you provide the proper driver for the MB. Pre-Installed Vista should work with your H/W change.

You will need to re-install and you will need to re-activate (if it fails rung up MS on the number provided and explain, they will be ok)

Do you mean I'll have to scrub the disk and do a "clean" install? I have done that many times in XP and others, but never on Vista.

probably. A "repair" install might work.

Yes a repair install should be sufficient which will leave your data and settings in tact. But you should do a backup of everything you can't do without before upgrading to your new mobo.

Thanks all for suggestions; repair install worth a try.
