ppt 8800 basically the same product with mc50, here is how to cold boot it :

Rebooting the Symbol 8800/46 PDA
Cold Boot - NOTE: All data will be lost if you perform this operation.

1) Take out the battery in back. To the left of the battery in the battery compartment is a reset button.

2) Hold the half-moon button in the front down while you press the 'reset' button in the battery compartment.

3) Replace the battery.

4) Turn on the device.

If you were successful, the Symbol splash screen will show, and then you will be prompted to calibrate the pen.
