How to access a computer by the IP address

How do I access a computer and things on it from my computer at home with the other computers IP address?

Not looking to go stealing info or anything just looking to have fun with my friends.

if both computers are in the same domain, you can follow this instruction
first
start - run - type - cmd - enter type:ping ip address -t
ensure that the ping is successful
then
start-run-type: \\ip address\c$

with this you should be able to access the other computer's drive c and this give's you full access the person's doc.

Just want to say that your suggestion doesn't work donlaw, I've been trying it and it doesn't work at all. I get and error saying that the network path wasn't found.

get the teamviver software.Find google!or make a client server software,and run server part in your pc and install client part in other pc,then you can access pc's

You Must share the Particular folder or drive for network sharing ,C$ works only when system is working Under domain ...

Hey Guys ( This Jamshid Sediqi ) i Have More than 5 Years Experience in IT Field
if you wana go to the computer through It's Ip Address follow These Steps

1.Go Start Menue + Search ( Write LMHOST )
2.when you find The File open that by format of Notepad or Wordpad, Be Carefull to not Check the Box below the Char Written (Always Open in this Format )
3.on that file there is written [#domain ] just write the Ip you wana get access infront of #DOM
for Example : #Dom:192.168.168.168
when you wrote just save that and close
Remember that this File Acts as a network,

then go to search and find computer
it will work, you think that you are in there own network.

now you have access to whole computer ( Shared Drives,C Drive)

hey man i want to access a pc that is in another network as well as in another state from were i stay, is it possible to access that pc via ip address
