flags in ip packet?

Expand Post »
hi my friends

sorry if my question is n't related to this section.

i guess here is the best one for asking my question.

anyway...

my question is about ip packet ,in fact flags field in it .

we have 3 flags in fragment section as well as fragment offset.

two of them are DF and MF . but there is one left .that i see in many

references it is reserved and must be set to zero .

my querstion is why is it so? why we have it if we don't use it? just because

of the lenght of fields that must be an exponent of 2 ?

thanks guys.

:surprised
