Expand Post »
Having given the task of establishing network for a new site office for our company i am totally confused as how to start the same.

I have started with 8port dlink switches, 15 users, and my idea would be to designate 1 pc with 2 LAN cards one for internet(for ISP) and other for local lan.

where do i connect my proxy server as i can monitor user traffic/and also install printer.

pls help

Re: Help Required

You'd run into problems under windows with 2 LAN cards as it'll only allow 1 to work with the socket system.

I would come out of the internet router onto a suitably sized switch (and then maybe not an el cheapo switch if you need more than 8 ports); then you'll have a LAN and an internet connexion on the same wires.

Remember to take bandwidth into account.
