Getting a Router to work.

I've just recently gotten a Network Everywhere Linksys NR041 Router. Although I can easily get the wiring part down pat, I need help getting my Windows ME machine to access the internet (through Charter Pipeline) through the router. So I'm asking for help. There may be some extra dross in my system, so if you have any questions to ask me, I'll do my best to ask them. I'd want this router to work so I can transfer files from my Windows ME machine to a new machine being delivered to me that runs Linspire, as well as Internet sharing.
