ethernet card issue

interesting issue this is not for me but for a friend,, he has a windows xp with an integrated nic card and it reads a 169 ip address, and he has also put in an pci Ethernet adapter and still has the same issue.. he has uninstalled the nic from the device manager and reinstalled it..he has even tried to hard set the ip address in to the LAC and still does not work...

tell your friend this..start back to the basics...

1. remove the second card completely...
2.find out what mobo it is ..go to that site and download the driver for the
intergraded nic
