PCI card configuration (NIC)

Expand Post »
I'm trying to configure the setting for the NIC I installed in an old machine. The machine supports the Novell Netware 5 req'ts. When attempting to load the OS I get messed up trying to load the drivers for the card I have (D-Link DFE-530TX) which is suoorted.

I get a message that "the device supported by the driver may be disabled" after configuring it.

If it's true the device is disabled how do I enable it?

How do I get past this point so I can finish the install?

Please help

PS. I'm new to Novell so be gentle

Re: PCI card configuration (NIC)

You need to make sure that there is no IRQ conflict. Moving the card to a different PCI slot sometimes solves this as well. Otherwise you have to look around in the BIOS. After this, make sure you unplug the power cable from the computer to completely power it down. This way the PCI slots are completely reinitialised.

If this doesn't work you may need an update driver for the 'D-Link DFE-530TX', downloadable here and copy the files to the c:\nwupdate directory.
