DHCP Server

Hi guys, I have a server running Asterisk that does not have wireless, and I don't have easy access to my router (it's in my roommate's bedroom). I successfully configured a DHCP server on my netbook, which could give my server Internet access (which I think would make it a gateway).

Now I have two questions:

1. How can I access this server from another computer in the network?

2. If I forward port 80 and 22 on my router and try to log in from outside the network, will I be able to reach the server by my external IP?

Thanks! I'm trying to wrap my head around this. I'm not a network guy. :(

After much research I've learned that I must forward the ports on my netbook. I used to think port forwarding only applied to routers, but now I know better. :)
