Hello virspy,
You may have to be a little more specific with your question. As far as I can remember, the IP address of the sender of an e-mail is listed in the code of the e-mail which can be easily retrieved, but the IP address of someone in chat is a little more difficult.
If you ever find a solution to this it would be great if you post it as well so we can all protect ourselves from possible attacks.
