Netgear Router DG814 - HL>Couterstrike Online

Good morning all,
I have made a recent purchase if the above router and i seem to having some minor problems when trying to use port forwarding, Playing the game half life, have a rising lowing ping, I'm on ADSL, should be expecting a ping of 30 but have 50 > 500. Has to be the Port Forwarding, The port range that should be used 27000 to 27039. Just wondering can shed and light on this.

What's your pingtime without the Netgear router in place? Are you using the uPnP forwarding or actual port forwarding on the router?
