"No Servers are available" Error with ASP.NET Webpage

Expand Post »
Hi!

I am running an ASP.NET Website on a Windows 2000 Server machine. Sometimes, the Website is not available, an error message saying "No servers

are available" comes back on a white screen.

Basically, there are two things you can do on the website that result in this error:
- getting data out of an excel (office 2000) spreadsheet and
- getting data out of an oracle (9.0.1) database.

Although both, cpu and memory, are stressed during those processes, there are still ressources free (cpu between 30 and 70%).

I've ran the same website on another machine with Windows XP and I never managed to reproduce this error.

Now my questions:
- Can I reproduce this error somehow on my Windows XP machine?
- Are there any settings (IIS or Windows 2000 Server) to avoid getting this error?
- What could be the reason for this error?

I've already googled a lot but haven't found anything useful, so I am thankful for any hints.
