dialup networking "again"

Expand Post »
Days searching Google, this forum, asking ?? anywhere I could think of.

Found a couple of older threads in this group.

Desktop host dialup connection.
Linksys WRT54GC router and Airport Express as access point.

Toshiba laptop client.

File sharing, print sharing, ITunes wireless to home stereo from laptop all work OK.

Dell(ethernet cable to LAN port on the router) setup with network setup wizard "this computer connects directly to the internet the other computers on my network connect to the internet through this computer."

Selected my Earthlink connection,
checked local area connection 3com etherlink 10/100 pci
windows firewall off.

Toshiba
Network setup wizard "this computer connects to the internet through a residential gateway or through another computer on my network"
Windows firewall off.

use Zone Alarm on both PC's

have IP range set to trusted for IP address to include both PC's

Can not connect with the laptop.

The only way I can get a connection with the laptop is to setup AnalogX proxy.

Is this my only option or have I missed a crucial step somewhere?

I want to add a second desktop to the LAN.

Only one PC at a time will be using the dialup.

No DSL, Broadband etc. here in the sticks.

Thanks for any thoughts.
