problem connecting via ethernet card

I connected a desktop and a laptop via ethernet card and lan cable. This was done primarily to transfer data. The problem is , the desktop can view files present in subfolders on the laptop but when i try to put them on the desktop , an error pops up saying that the file is not accessible.

For eg, There is a folder X containing folder Y and folder Y contains abc.mp3 Now , the PC can see abc but when I try to copy it, it says file not accessible.

I have already set all sharing properties.

Please assist

You probably don't have permission to access or make changes to those folder. Go to the computer that has the folder you want to share. Right click it, properties, click on the security tab and click allow for all the users. Repeat the same process for each folder. Now you should be able to access the folders.
