getting and posting a domain name

Expand Post »
i have jsut puchased a domain name, and I will be needing a MX record to do mail.

This is what I sent to my ISP:

The FQDN is 3rct.org i guess pointed to mail.3rct.org and the A record to 216.129.230.229.

Any ideas on why they need my host name of the server and why they are able to do a whois lookup and get a IP that is not even close to my IP.

Also should this domain name be the name of the server?

Thanks

Re: getting and posting a domain name

Strange!

When my host set up my account, are just changed the nameservers of my domain name to what they said, then added the mail server to outlook express (mail.domain.com).
