Connecting a Dell 1390 Wireless Adapter to Linksys WRT54G

Expand Post »
I currently have a wireless network that contains a Linksys WRT54G wireless router that is wired to my wifes desktop. I previously had a laptop with a linksys wireless notebook adapter that connected and worked great. Since then, this older laptop has crashed and I have replaced it with a Dell Inspirion 1501 with a 1390 Wireless adapter built in. Here's my problem:

I can't get it to stay connected to the network/internet.

When I first powered the system up, it turned on the wireless adapter and was showing signal strength (Great..), but when I try to access the internet or my wireless network I get nothing. I have attempted to open the router settings to accept new wireless clients, and while this is open I can access the internet but loose that connection when the router completes the open door acceptance.

I do not believe it is the router at this point, so could someone point me in the right direction as to if there is a configuration on the Dell that I need to make to get this to work consistently.

Thanks a million..
