Help- Win XP Home/pro network issue

Hello im trying to network a desktop with Windows xp Home and a laptop with Windows xp Pro. i cant seem to get the laptop to network with the desktop. i had no problem networking my old computer, my moms computer and the desktop together but i cant get access to the network with my laptop.

make sure they are on the same workgroup (usually MSHOME) as home uses workgroups only whereas pro prefers domains
