What is the best proxy server to set up yourself?

I was just wondering what the daniweb community thought about proxy servers.. Which are the best to install on your own computer? I currently run a proxy server through the TOR network, but It is rather slow.. and most importantly, I cannot access it anywhere else. I've heard circumventor and CC Proxy are the best, but I was just wondering what other people thought.

Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions!
