ping goes timeout..

pingin my gateway with 1500 bytes of packets timeout...what does this mean ????
at 1450 however they take on an avg 9ms???
is my cable net provider cutting me on the speed???
mines a 64kbps connection.

It means that your gateway router cannot handle a 1500 byte packet without fragmenting it. Most Internet routers today are set to handle a 1500 MTU, but not all.
