Not that I'm aware of. It would have to be a main board bios function to do anything and at that point, the OS hasn't even tried to boot. A boot failure would come later but before the protocol stack has loaded and engaged the network adaptor. I think the best you could maybe do is report a boot failure after a secondary successful boot but this is a completely different animal. Is this for a programming class? If so, maybe some sort of low level device driver could be written to do something.
