cooling question for xeons

Expand Post »
i've been running home made xeon render farm for about a year now
and i've been having cooling issues since day one

unfortunately i fall in too the group where i can't afford rack mount servers to add a cooling solution too

so mine are just large boxes

from what i've seen there is only 3 cooling options available for the cpus

1
default fan - the fan provided with the 3.2's isn’t even enough to keep them below 40c at normal operations
2
the Swiftech MCX603-V - my current heat sink
a larger heat sink topped off with a monster fan ...can't recall the name
this works ok but when the comp has been rendering for about 4 + hours i get into the 60c range within the case cpus are close to 70c
3
there is 2 liquid cooling solutions
haven't heard much about them tho or their efficiency ... also slightly concerned in putting those in never did liquid cooling on anything before more on human error side from me

was wondering if anyone has any experience with this type of arrangement or anything possibly some stories from the liquid cooling solutions

Thanks,
MagusDF
