Hello. I'm pretty sure I have a bad fan/fans on my Gateway notebook computer. It makes a horrible whining sound and is extremely slow. I don't know which fan it might be though - when I take the bottom panel off there are 3 fans visible.
I really don't want to have to mail it back to Gateway just to have them check the fans, so I'd like to try replacing it/them myself. I've done stuff like that on a desktop, but never on a laptop. My question is can any comparable fan that I can purchase locally be used, or does it have to be a certain type?
