yeah problem with upgrading is I just bought the mobo and cpu in november, and I paided $300 for them and I just can't get myself to spend another $400 on new stuff in less then a months time, not to mention I dont need them, I get 175FPS locked on CS:S on good servers, my FPS rarely falls under 90fps

also my mobo only has 3 DIMM slots, meaning the max I can install is 3060MB
AND once u go over 2GB the ram only operates at PC2700 not PC3200.

I got away with installing just over 2GB and still running at PC3200.

also if you heard what I piad for everything you would give it 10/10

excluding the 160GB HDD and 8x dvd burner which I already had, my total on this pc came out to just under $900

its called smart shopping :cheesy:

2048Mb = 2Gb. 1024 bytes to the kilobyte, 1024 kilobytes to the megabyte, etc.

Where did you do your shopping? No way you can get that from newegg at less than $900. Did you go ebay?

3 DIMM slots

thats a bummer, as RAM needs to be in Dual Sync (or something liek that term). I mean like if you have 2x512mb and then a single 256mb for 1.5gig the .5 of a gig will be wasted! i really want a nforce mobo, they are soo cool!

my 2x 512MB sticks are dual channel but they are not running in dual channel.

I found my amd 64 for $200 and my mobo for $95 a few days before christmas

thats not bad $295 for a AMD 64 3400+ and a DFI LANPARTy nforce 3 250Gb mobo

Socket 754 CPUs do not support dual channel mode.

A64 motherboards do not host the memory controller - it is located on the CPU itself. Thus, any dual channel support is mostly dependant on the CPU model itself.

nice pc! im building a budget one for £800 (about $1500) which uses that same DFI mb and ath64 3400!!!! (newcastle core @ 2.4 GHz) and SATA barracudas :) Apparently the motherboard is good for a 280 FSB, which is nice. I might aim for a 250 FSB to get the 64 to 3GHz (with a watercool kit of course!) and i was thinking about a 6800 GT...... ;)

A 6800GT, 2 gigs of DDR400 ram, 16x dvd burner, 520w PSU, and a SATA HD for under $600? Where did you do your shopping?
