Is my monitor Dead ?

Expand Post »
I cannot get my screen resolution to fill the screen of my monitor.
The resolution is currently set to 1024 x 768 on my Hansol 710P 17 monitor,
But there is a gap or black area of about 1 inch around two sides.
For a while I was able to correct this by changing the refresh rate to 100hertz.
And this fixed the problem for a while, giving me the full viewing area on my monitor.
But now even that does not work, and I have a smaller window than my monitor once more.
I have tried altering the settings for vertical & horizontal movement, but they are set to maximum stretch, yet my screen is still not fully used.
I have down loaded new monitor drivers from Hansols web site, but this has not fixed the problem.
I have purchased a new graphics card also, but this too has not fixed the problem.
My monitor is about 4 or 5 years old.
Can you suggest anything or is my monitor faulty and needs replacing.
Many thanks. Rob
