Check cable on HP

Hi,

I'm trying to repair an HP S3100n here with an integrated graphics card and I wanted to know.. are there any "testers" to test if the problem comes from the graphics card or the motherboard itself??

Reason being there's a pci-e low-profile slot open.. and i don't wanna go buy one and be stuck with it if it's not the problem..

Problem: Screen goes "check cable" blabla

So to resume :
-VGA Testers exists???
-Pci-e low profile in stores or only online??
