Laptop Screen is all white

Ok, so i opened my laptop the other day to find that it is totally white. My laptop is a gateway solo 1450. I emailed tech support and they sent me back some reply about replacing ram. I knew it wouldnt work but i followed the instuctions and it still booted white. Is my screen fried or is there something i can do to save it? ( Oh btw: On a followup email i recieved from gateway (after telling them the method didnt work) they said it would cost 860.00 to fix and more if the LCD needs replaced.)

Hi did you drop your laptop?....if not your flex cable may need to be reset!
or if you want I'll make an offer to buy let me know..
