graphics card

i have a dell computer with in-built graphics and sound the problem is the graphics just aren't good enough so i am going to buy a pci graphics card and was wondering that when i add my new graphics card

do i add my new card then disable my intel(r)82845g/gl/ge/pe/gv graphics controller

Disable the graphics controller then add the card

Also the in-built sound card do i need to have a new sound card or can i just disable the graphics and not the sound
