HP f50/Blank White Screen

I'm troubleshooting a friend's 15" LCD Monitor. It will not display any color whatsoever, just a blank white screen. On boot-up I can see a dozen or so colored vertical lines that quickly disappear. Pushing any/all buttons on the monitor has no effect at all. Booting up in safe mode, I still get a blank white screen. Is this a dead monitor? It's only 2 or 3 years old. Any other HP owners had a similar experience? Thanks :eek:
