Vertical colour lines on whole screen..please help

Expand Post »
I have compaq Evo N160.Laptop is just 1 year old & still in excellent condition.I got the vertical lines problem(pic attached). My screen is full of colour lining from top to bottom as I start the laptop & it remains permanent. This lines changes colour at some stage when screen pic changes or when I run scan disk on HDD.Though the laptop works fine with external Vga monitor.I cant see anything whats going behind screen without external vga monitor.
I would like to tell from when does this problem occurs......some days ago some ant(small insect) has entered my laptop through DSL cable(lan card).& very next day I got this problem
I have shown to 2 laptop tech person. One of the tech person diagonsis that inverter board is gone(which I knew now he was wrong).Second tech person says that either display ic or display cable is gone.Someone says that the whole display should be change.
I request to give right guidance to me...

Tks

Re: Vertical colour lines on whole screen..please help

Looks almost like your ribbon is partially pulled from the LCD. (best case scenario) Worst? Video deciphering circuits ka-put.. Does this change with movement of the lid? Or a light tap?

Re: Vertical colour lines on whole screen..please help

If you move the screen when this condition is happening does it change at all? This would indicate a bad connection.. If not you will have to change the LCD at most..

Re: Vertical colour lines on whole screen..please help

my father has a compaq presario v2000 (notebook) and its only about a year old, as well. same thing.

with my case the image (or the lines, themselves) are not effected by opening or closing the notebook.

since there is no warranty with it, should it just be considered permanently f'ed up? or is there a way to get a new part for it?

Re: Vertical colour lines on whole screen..please help

My Sony Vaio had this problem and I resolved it. See this thread. Almost definitely, the video cable and the LCD screen are mismatched, so the screen is not getting all the data it needs, or getting them on the wrong pins. The easiest way to find out is to get the laptop schematics from ebay and confirm that the part numbers match.

Re: Vertical colour lines on whole screen..please help
laptop screen Vertical coloured lines
dell 9300-not flimsy/thin screen/lid.
have 10 steady and fixed veticle lines which appeared one day, being:
5xgreen/2xpurple/3xyellow, do not show on screen shot or external monitor.
up to now not been too much of a problem, however,
one green recently started to flash as single green/double yellow for short time
settling as either-mostly single green.
nothing changed/modified so not likely mismatch of parts,
could somthing be wearing out/breaking down.
no change with squeezing tapping or moving lid/screen.
noticed a few laptops for sale recently
[different makes/models] with similar problem.
come on you techies whats the answer?
