monitor idenity crisis

My computer for some reason has suddenly started to refuse recognise my LCD monitor (a 19" GNR TS920W). It has decided it is a a CRT instead. I have 2 graphics cards, both nvidia 7600 GS, and I am running the 32-bit edition of Vista.

I have tried the following to try and solve the problem:-
- doing a system restore to when the monitor was behaving itself
- uninstalling the drivers for the graphics cards and then reinstalling with the most up to date ones
- i have fiddled with the monitors inbuilt menu, and restored the default settings via that. the default, and unchangeable resolution now in this menu is 1024x768, whereas before it started acting up the native resolution was 1400x900
- i have also unistalled the monitor in the device manager and then scanned for new hardware and this hasn't worked either...

GNR don't seem to produce a specific driver for their monitors either...

i was wondering if anyone else could help with this problem, and hopefully come up with a solution......

cheers,

Will
