compatibility issue of agp with motherboard.

hi guy's

i've got a asus A7V8X-MX SE motherboard which supports only agp(8x/4x) cards and memory slot of type ddr1 dimm. I am planning to buy a new agp card most prob. geforce 7300gt-AGP version with 512MBDDR2 memory. So can any one tell me; will that be ok or compitable with my motherboard! And i've got a 256ddr RAM too. plz tell me u r valuable suggetions.

I know the time for agp cards is long gone. But as of now i cannnot afford a new system as such.

Get more system ram as most current video cards dont really have 512 vram, they have 128 or 256 and steal the rest from system RAM.

As far as i know, AGP x8 cards work in AGP x4 slots, but at the x4 speed

the board takes 8x avp. and if i were you i would add at least another 512 meg of ram to the system 1 gig if you can afford it
and i can't find it anywhere that video card that say they are 512 meg are really only 256meg ,but i did find this .looks to me like if the fame buffer uses all of the vram 256 or 512 ,then it will uses the system ram .

Nearly all budget cards do. ATIs jargon for this is "hypermemory"

ok found it ,but its only on pci express ,and not the older agp cards .if im reading this right

"What is it?
HyperMemory™ is ATI’s innovative technology that enables a reduction in the amount of on-board memory on a graphics card without compromising its overall performance.

Its advanced memory management technology makes more efficient use of all the available memory in computers with PCI Express® technology. Graphics applications can share system memory and use fast on-board memory for real-time processing between the graphics card and the computer’s memory. This ultimately increases the affordability of ATI’s Radeon™ graphics technology." http://ati.amd.com/technology/hypermemory.html

maybe ,but from what im reading i take it to be new technology with pic-e .
Edit; i think this says it all!!

HyperMemory is ATI Technologies' method of using a PC's main system RAM as part of or all of the video card's framebuffer memory on their line of Radeon video cards and motherboard chipsets. It relies on new fast data transfer mechanisms within PCI Expres

cant find anything about this for AGP video cards ,pci-e only ,i know stop it allready!!

edit= also i do believe from what i read that this hyper memory is used on the cheaper video cards, that why they are cheaper [less expensive ram on the card ]., not the high end card
