I have an acer travelmate 2480, 256mb ram, 60hdd. I want to expand my ram to 1gb because it's too slow, is it okay to do so?

it depends if your hardware can support up to 1gb..

Which OS you are using? If XP is OS on laptop, 512 Mb will be enough. If is older than XP (win2000, Win98...) than, nothing will help you.

Yes you can probably put up to 1gb of ram, just before that check some specification of your machine to see it for any case. You can find it on internet.
